The Premier Pathways Trainee History Teacher program is a 2-year classroom based learning process which aims to prepare you as well as possible for your NQT year! The course will accredit you with a PGCE from the University of Buckingham, Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) AND 60 credits towards completing a Master’s degree. The course can be tailor made for the successful Trainee History Teacher because, unlike other PGCE’s or Teacher Training schemes, we believe that the candidates happiness and success begins with choosing a school which fits their personal preferences and predilections. The program has absolutely NO FEES or costs and you will be given a daily wage for the training you are undertaking in the school.

The ideal Trainee History Teacher will have a strong academic background, sufficient subject knowledge and strong motivations to get in to the education sector. The chosen Trainee History Teacher will benefit from being personable, approachable and genuinely excited about a future career as a teacher. Candidates will be able to present themselves confidently and will ideally have some classroom based experience (though this is not a necessity), or some experience working with younger people in a formal or informal environment. Overall, the Trainee History Teacher who is chosen will have passion and persistence for both their subject, working with younger people and improving the cognitive learning and development of students.

The Premier Pathways History Teacher Training program will see the successful Trainee History Teacher undertake a role similar to a TA for the first two terms. This period is used as a building block to your career as a teacher as the program allows freedom and fluidity to either speed up or slow down the progress you make dependent on how comfortable you feel within the school and position. Eventually, you will be teaching a o.8 timetable and will have monitored and observed the best practice of teachers throughout the school so you will be able to confidently create, devise, and deliver your own lesson plans as a successful History Teacher.
