Rent Officer

Sellick Partnership is currently recruiting for a Rent Officer to account and monitor income and to liaise with Local Authorities around Housing Benefit issues and be responsible for recording rents due to the organisation, much of which comes through Housing Benefit.

Key Rent Officer responsibilities will include:

* Managing a patch of properties, providing income and debt management related advice and support to tenants
* Successfully monitoring rent arrears and preventing 'at risk' accounts from falling into arrears
* Using legislation and benefits knowledge to implement an appropriate repayment plan
* Dealing with enforcement issues and attending court where necessary
* Providing advice relating to welfare benefits and money management
* Forging strong relationships with key agencies such as Housing Benefit and the Department of Work and Pensions

The successful candidate will have the following characteristics:

* Experience in using rent accounting and financial systems/databases to analyse debtors
* Excellent numerical skills
* Good communication skills
* Experience of working to tight deadlines
* Ideally have some knowledge of the benefits system and housing benefit in particular
