BDS are currently recruiting for an Infrastructure Support and Development Engineer for our client, a charitable organisation with a head office base in Birmingham.

The aim of this role is to provide technical management of the business's ICT Infrastructure at a senior level whilst undertaking the role of principal lead for the management of all centralised systems and end user devices.
Also, to lead the ICT Infrastructure Team, line manage its staff and be a key contributor to the ongoing management and long term planning of the department.

Duties and Responsibilities;

1. Manage the network, telecoms and data centre infrastructure, this includes:

• Microsoft Windows Active Directory
• A Windows 2008 Cluster
• Cisco Firewalls
• Citrix
• VMware
• HP Storage Area Network
• HP Backup Management
• Cisco Routers & Switches
• Web Filtering Systems
• A large network of separate analogue and digital phone systems

2. Lead the migration of the current infrastructure to a new virtualised environment.
3. Contribute to strategic planning for future infrastructure and network management.
4. Line manage staff in the ICT Infrastructure team and ensure their work is prioritised and in line with the needs of the organisation.
5. Specify the technical requirements for all changes and new builds to the ICT infrastructure.
6. Provide third line management support for queries and incidents raised on the ICT Service Desk.
7. Oversee the development of the corporate desktop and deployment of applications via Citrix.
8. Ensure that all systems are secure and compliant with IS27001. Work with the Security Manager to improve the quality of the security infrastructure.
9. Liaise with 3rd party suppliers and consultants.
10. Maintain systems by applying patches and upgrades.
11. Monitor the performance of the infrastructure to detect trends, understand the effects of change, ensure that performance improvements have been achieved, and to ensure that suppliers are meeting their contracted service levels.
