Student Support Worker (Additional Learning Support)

I am now recruiting for the new academic year 17 / 18 for a September start. I am looking for Support Workers to work with learners with a wide range of needs, including academic, social, emotional and physical. We are now looking for suitable stff to start at a local college in North Tyneside. You will be supporting students to achieve their full potential both in and out of lessons.

Hours and days are flexible according to the student's needs/timetable and your availability. This role would suit individuals looking for term time work due to the nature of the post.

You could be supporting in any of the following curriculum areas.

* Art
* Catering
* Child Care
* Construction
* English
* Engineering
* Fabrication & Welding
* Floristry
* Foundation Learning
* Health & Social Care
* I.T.
* Maths
* Sport
* Travel & Tourism
* Uniform Services

Personal Attributes

* The ability to communicate and work with young adults
* A real desire to support and help students to reach their potential

* Ability to work as part of a team

* Be able to maintain a confident and professional approach at all times
* An Interest or experience in one of the above curriculum areas would be advantageous

Responsibilities

* To provide support to students in group based sessions under the direction of the Tutor

* To develop learners' English and Maths skills
* Ability to keep students on task and engaged

* Promote independent learning with your students
* Work within the policies and procedures of the college and in partnership with other staff and teams
* Attend staff and review meetings where necessary

Requirements of the role

* Successful applicants must be suitable to work with children and vulnerable adults
* A DBS check (Disclosure and Barring Service) will be carried out

Desirable

* Experience is desirable but not essential in: supporting people with: learning difficulties, disabilities, education or care
