Support Worker and Waking Night Support Workers

Location: Coventry, West Midlands
Salary: £9.00 per hour.
Contracts available: Full time, day and waking nights shift patterns available. Waking nights work a rolling rota of four shifts on and four days off, the shifts are 10 hours 22.00 - 08.00 therefore working 40 hours per week.

Elysian Field Ltd is a rapidly growing Accommodation Services provider, specialising in providing accommodation and support services to young people, including assessment units and Residential Children`s Homes. Elysian Field provide accommodation and support services for a wide cross section of young people aged between 16 to 24 years, some whom have newly arrived in the UK and are seeking asylum (UASC) or have refugee status. We require Support Workers who have experience in support of such young people, hold a non-judgemental attitude and have a good knowledge of cultural sensitivities, equality and diversity.

You must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and will report to one of our Senior Support Workers, with a dotted line to our Senior Manager.

The homes you will be working in are predominantly across Coventry but we are expanding across the West Midlands, willingness to travel is essential.

You will be working mainly within our supported houses but could also cover some individual flats.

We are looking for dynamic, and committed individual(s) with a minimum of 12 months experience in housing, social care or youth work and experience of successfully working with young people with complex and diverse needs.

The role

• You will work as part of a team that provides support and advocacy to young people meeting their educational, social, religious, dietary and personal development needs.
• You will provide practical support to young people living in Elysian Field accommodation in the areas of independent living skills and towards building realistic expectations of independent life.
• You will be required to provide a responsive, effective, high quality support service to all of our young people in our supported houses.
• You will prepare young people for managing tenancies and for long-term independence, supporting young people in successful move-on from Elysian Field accommodation and helping achieve positive outcomes.
• You will be required to motivate and assist our service users to access education, employment, training and voluntary work experience.
• You will be required to support service users in their journey to independence. You will undertake one-to-one support work.
• You will ensure the properties are kept clean and tidy and contribute towards cleaning and health and safety duties.
• You will be required to maintain strong working relationships with relevant specialist support agencies, including but not limited to Legal and Health Services
• You will be required to present and record legible accurate and concise information for reports and support plans within specified deadlines.
• The post holder will be required to represent EFL professionally to a wide range of audiences including statutory services and is expected at all times to conduct themselves in a manner which is consistent with the aims and purposes of Elysian Field Limited

EFL takes a proactive approach to ensuring the safety and well-being of all children and young people and are seeking workers with experience in managing risks and challenging behaviour. Applicants will need to demonstrate an understanding of safeguarding practice.

We operate 24/7, therefore expect a flexible approach to working. We operate a 24-hour emergency duty system and the role involves responding occasionally to emergency situations on a rota basis.


You must have at least 1 years` experience of working directly with young people in a supporting role.

You must have some experience of working with a similar client group and an understanding of the needs and challenges posed by these young people. Candidates should have knowledge of

Trafficking, CSE, and Care Leavers, Housing and Homelessness, Mental health and other related issues.

You must have achieved a level 3 in Health and Social Care or an equivalent or working towards one

You must have a full UK driving licence and access to a car as this is an essential car user`s role.

You must be eligible to work in the UK
