Randstad Student & Worker Support are recruiting for Disability Support Assistants to work with Students at universities in Chester.

We have students with disabilities/mental health conditions who are requiring one to one support in their Higher Education studies. We are looking for the right individuals to support our students to really make a difference. The role is to start September 2017.

As a student support worker you will support disabled students to develop their independence and autonomy in HE by providing practical support and strategies, enabling them to access facilities and equipment as well as adapt to the learning environment.

The role of a Disability Support Assistant will included performing one or more of the tasks below:

* To support the student in lectures and/or seminars by clarifying the language used, checking understanding, and rephrasing information into an accessible format.
* Support the student with transition to University.
* To be available to provide Scribe support during the University examination periods - April, May/June and August.
* To encourage students to implement study skills strategies set out by their tutors. These may include: encouraging regular attendance, planning schedules, prioritising important tasks and adhering to deadlines.
* To maintain a professional role as a Disability Support Assistant and be aware of the need to maintain this professional relationship with the student at all times
* To act in the best interests of learners at all times whilst also working within the policies and procedures of the institution

You will work closely with Randstad regarding the needs of individual students, and to ensure that any concerns are addressed in a timely manner. You will be expected to act professionally and maintain confidentiality within your role at all times, sharing all relevant information with Randstad to ensure the best possible service to your students.


* Strong skills in note-taking, typing and proofreading
* Punctuality and reliability
* Good organisational skills
* Ideally you will have experience in working with specific learning difficulties individuals in higher or further education


* Comfortable to provide support at numerous University of Chester campus locations in the city centre and Ellesmere Port.
