Engagement and Development Worker – Complex Needs
Salary £18,850 per annum

35 Hours per week

Our client is a registered mental health charity. They offer high quality services in the Midlands area and are governed by an experienced Board of Trustees who give their time for free to ensure that we meet their charitable aims and objectives. They offer a range of services which includes residential care homes, supported housing, support to people living in their own homes and activities and services in local communities.

They are looking for a self motivated individual to join them as an Engagement and Development Worker in one of their services. This service is part of a Programme funded by Big Lottery’s Fulfilling Lives initiative and led by Birmingham Voluntary Service Council (BVSC). The aim of the programme is to work with experts by experience and organisations to shape how services are delivered to vulnerable people with multiple complex needs.

In this role, you will provide individualised professional development, creating personalised development plans for the people who have experienced complex needs and who are engaged in a formal role within the Programme. You will encourage people with complex needs to be involved in a variety of voluntary and paid opportunities, and will provide the necessary support to ensure that their goals are being achieved. You will also be involved in supporting their Experts by Experience and Peer Mentors in their own personal development.

The successful candidate will have previous experience of working either in a voluntary or paid role supporting those who have complex needs. You must have a strong belief and commitment to user involvement and empowerment, along with well developed skills in dealing with challenging situations. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are also required.
