My Doncaster based client is currently recruiting for a permanent member of the purchasing team to undertake a Buyer or Senior Buyers role.

Job Purpose

1. The management of the relationship with allocated key suppliers
2. The selection of suppliers and negotiation of prices within post holder's level of delegated authority to commit
3. The negotiation of appropriate Conditions of Purchase
4. The creation of Long Term Supply Agreements with Key Suppliers
5. The development of new suppliers to maintain a competitive market place
6. The delivery of purchasing savings in line with Company objectives
7. Communicate effectively and demonstrate the company values

Principle Responsibilities & Accountabilities

1. Ensure all departmental buyers are informed, trained and competent to undertake their roles
2. Proactively participate with the departmental safety process
3. Ensure self and all required personnel complete enabling safety processes to reduce injuries i.e. SBOs, Near Misses
4. Ensure the team comply with company safety policies & procedures

1. Ensure all buyers within the department are trained and competent to carry out their tasks with full recognition of quality and SoTR
2. Ensure purchasing documentation is verified by appropriate disciplines prior to issue
3. Ensure self and all required personnel complete enabling quality improvement processes i.e. QBOs, QNMs/PQs

1. Ensure parts are available to an agreed schedule
2. Liaise with Operations to ensure shortages are expedited to satisfy customer demand
3. Constantly review supplier compliance against schedules to provide KPIs to identify improvements & opportunities

1. Seek cost improvements through purchasing strategies
2. Manage costs to annual budget plan
3. Contribute to the tendering process

2. Actively manage the purchasing to achieve customer requirements
3. Develop standard purchasing processes & routines
4. Develop the companies purchasing policies and procedures
5. The creation and maintenance of performance data for Key Suppliers.
6. Be an exemplar of continuous improvement processes and coordinate activities with central WPS
7. Perform any other duties as appropriate within the individual's skills and competencies

1. Communicate effectively with all departmental staff
2. Be an exemplar of communication, particularly through change and daily briefing processes
3. Manage the operational succession planning process for your department
4. Develop the team to be flexible and efficient

Hours of work 8am - 4.30pm Mon to thurs 8am - 1pm Fridays (37 hours)
