A leading international property and infrastructure group is looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to support a variety of projects in the rail sector. With operations in Australia, Asia, Europe and America they are committed to creating and delivering innovative and sustainable property and infrastructure solutions for future generations.

This leading consultancy offers a range of expertise from development and investment management to construction and asset and property management. their areas of expertise cover aviation, commercial, defence, education, healthcare, heritage and arts, justice, rail and infrastructure, residential, retail and technology.

This dynamic team provides cost management services to the Thameslink programme. They act as principal consultants by overseeing £4.5 billion worth of redevelopment plans. The key requirement of this role is to manage cost planning and commercial management through the entire life cycle of the project from inception to post-completion.


* Working towards RICS membership
* Degree qualified in Quantity surveying or other building related degrees
* Conversant in all aspects of quantity surveying
* Ability to prepare estimates under supervision
* Ability to analyse and interpret commercial and technical project documentation
* Understanding of standard forms of contract, particularly NEC
* General understanding of the Rail Sector and Construction methodology generally
* Good IT skills
* Strong communication skills and good stakeholder management ability
* Knowledge and understanding of the component parts of a project and overall construction costs
* Flexibility on being office or site based (normally the client's office)
* Experience with bench marking analysis with a drive to seek and suggest innovative approaches to project delivery
* Ability to contribute to the preparation, monitoring and forecasting budgets during design, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning phases of a project
* Ability to contribute to financial and commercial reports
* Effective and efficient commercial administration of projects


* Provide pre and post contract quantity surveying services for major clients
* Work as part of the transportation team
* Plan, organise and control workload under supervision
* Provide a professional interface with other disciplines and the client's representative
* Ensure the quality and timeliness of service delivery to clients
* Provide full efficient and effective services in all technical and contractual aspects of professional practice
