Product Support Specialist: PSS Automation and Software

Location: Between Southampton and Bristol

Salary: £38,000 + Car + Bonus etc.

Our client is one of the UK’s leading distributors of industrial automation and control products. They are currently seeking a Product Support Specialist who will be responsible for providing technical knowledge, advice and support to external customers. They will also develop profitable Automation and Software growth within owned accounts, in line with company targets. The role will consist of developing existing accounts and new business development targets with technical solutions. The company has experienced dramatic growth even through recent challenging times and are continuing to expand and invest. They are looking for an individual that will invest their skills and knowledge in return and continue this expansion.

Are you an inventive Product Support Specialist looking for a new challenge? If so the successful candidate will be able to apply their unique skills to the following:


• Responsibility for the profitable growth of the Automation and Software business in their relevant geographical area.
• To promote the day to day activity of Automation, Software and third party complementary products.
• To be instrumental in converting New Business development opportunities and priority target accounts.
• To offer training, advice and assistance to their local branches.
• Attend joint customer visits with Sales Engineers, Sales Managers and PSS members from other specialist teams to all accounts.
• Ensure own level of personal development and product knowledge is kept up to date.
• Portray a professional image at all times.
• Be accountable for personal development and contribute to the evaluation of performance in line with the company’s core competencies and learning and development framework.
• Takes on additional tasks in order to meet departmental, project related or developmental objectives.
• Compliance with H&S policy and procedures.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

• The job calls for a person who enjoys dealing with people, creating and maintaining relationships as well as making a good impression both personally and for the organisation.
• It is important job holder should have the persistence and flexibility to see a job through to conclusion.
• Extensive experience in Rockwell PLC / HMI/ SCADA programming, industrial networks such as Ethernet/IP would be advantageous.
• The ability to make favourable impressions on others will be an important attribute.
• It is important that the job holder can demonstrate the ability to work under pressure and exhibit awareness of commercial conditions.
• Experience in similar product support / customer service environment is preferable.
• A good level of education is required; HNC/HND in electrical engineering (or equivalent electrical engineering qualification) would be advantageous.
• Extensive knowledge of Automation, Control and architecture is required.
• The role holder will have the ability to provide practical solutions, solve problems and look for continuous improvements for both the customer and the company.
• An SI or OEM background would be useful.
• This is a technical role so candidates must have the ability to resolve technical issues.
