Project / Construction Director
Based Greater London
Basic Salary up to £90000

My client is looking for a Project Director with a background in construction management either in process engineering or general construction contracting

You will be single point accountability for the safe and successful delivery of projects in line with the company strategy including HSEQ, commercial and client targets


• HSEQ leadership on project including ensuring SSOW & QMS are in place
• Responsible for the outputs of the Project Management team including the overall delivery of the projects including HSEQ, commercial, quality and client feedback
• Responsible for the delivery of the company strategy, policies and procedures across the Project Management team
• Responsible for the audit of the performance of the Project Management team on a regular basis including feedback to improve performance and site operations
• Acting as the point of escalation for the Project Management teams and clients. Must be able to demonstrate a high level of experience dealing with contractual and commercial disputes/issues
• Responsible for the client experience across the projects – taking time to understand client requirements, providing clients with the leadership to deliver a positive experience and ensuring that the business maintains repeat clients.
• Ensuring that the Project Management team work effectively with clients and other teams within the business, providing guidance on improving preparation for meetings, looking ahead to future events and encouraging planning and preparedness at all times.
• Working with other areas of the business including HSEQ, Commercial, Design, Programme/Planning, Central Purchasing and Finance teams to improve outcomes and performance.
• Responsible for the assessment and audit of risks and mitigations on a regular basis across all projects
• Attendance monthly at the commercial Contract Review meetings in head office, ensure that the Project Management team have an accurate assessment monthly of the contract performance
• Work with the Project Management team to manage the resource requirements on projects
• Attend company training sessions and self-start own continuous development


• BSC Hons in Building Management (Design & Construction) or equivalent plus 10 years’ experience in project delivery on projects including mechanical engineering or design & build projects with a value >£10m or
• 15 years’ experience in project delivery on projects including mechanical engineering or design & build projects with a value >£10m.
• Have 10 years’ experience in either Construction Director / Project Director roles
• Experience as managing contractor and dealing with direct labour
• Knowledge and experience of managing P&L
• Implicit understanding of NEC contracts
• Knowledge and experience in fixed price environments
