Salary: £80,000 - £100,000 pro-rata plus outstanding benefits including 30 days holiday, quarterly bonus, generous pension, regular salary reviews, plus lots more.

Duration: 9 - 12 months, with potential to extend

Our client, an exceptional financial services organisation who operates globally, are looking for an interim CIO to join their team for 9 - 12 months initially. They have a number of large-scale projects including the replacement of their back-end legacy systems, and they are looking for an exceptional candidate to lead them through this time.

The CIO, Chief Information Officer - Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Director in providing technology vision and direction. Provide technical input and expertise into the development of the company technology landscape and architecture, infrastructure planning, engineering and deployment.
  • Formulate IT policies, technology standards, procedures and manages their implementation and adoption throughout.
  • Operate and advocate a robust IT governance framework and associated metrics to ensure IT services are properly structured, controlled and measurable.
  • Work with the Director and management team, providing in-depth technical expertise to support key business and IT decisions
  • Plan and manage the delivery and enhancement of IT products and services, developed by internal companies and third parties.
  • Proactively identify and deliver IT continuous-improvement programs within corporate policy and guidelines to ensure adoption of relevant best practices for optimising IT costs, improving system performance, and delivery of new technology.
  • Support the management of IT suppliers to ensure an appropriate balance between tactical and strategic demands.
  • Ensure that appropriate IT asset management is performed to ensure the effective control and governance over IT assets and that maximum value is obtained from them.
  • Develop and manage strategic vendor and partnership relationships in accordance with defined Cost Management and Procurement and Supplier Management Policies and Procedures. Manage the preparation, review and consolidation of IT business plans, budgets and forecasts.
  • Proactively identify, record and manages IT risks (including Cyber Risk) relating to IT Services to help ensure a stable and secure IT environment

The Interim CIO, Chief Information Officer - Key Requirements:

Experience:

  • Extensive IT technical and management experience in various IT delivery models, gained at senior manager / director level.
  • Significant experience within business / financial services or insurance related, managing multiple, cross-functional teams or projects, and influencing senior-level management and key stakeholders.
  • Experience of managing complex project involving software development and IT infrastructure, involving internal and outsourced service providers.
  • Ability to manage small teams in a dynamic environment delivering business critical systems.
  • Strong technical IT skills, preferably with a background in managing the transition from legacy systems to more modern IT services delivered via a mix of suppliers and in a multi-mode environment delivering stable core systems whilst support innovation and digital transformation.
  • Extensive knowledge of infrastructure planning and operations, design, and deployment, as well as system life cycle management.
  • Demonstrable experience of managing the Production support and Service Delivery of business critical IT systems, preferably in a regulated Financial Services or Insurance environment.
  • Proven track record in building and maintaining effective supplier relationships in complex multi-vendor outsourced / third party supplier delivery models.
  • Expertise in budget planning, financial management and resource management.
  • Broad knowledge of current and emerging technologies, technology directions and strategic application to business needs.
  • Strong business acumen and business planning skills.
  • Exceptional project management skills, including the ability to effectively deploy resources and manage multiple projects of diverse scopes in a cross-functional environment.
  • Ability to improve operational efficiency, service delivery and information management across all lines of business and technology platforms.
