Be prepared to undertake training for: Working at Height; Manual Handling and manufacturers courses as required.
To be prepared to be trained in skills or refresher training as dictated by the job role and Company needs.

To report any Health and Safety Accident or Near Miss incident in a timely and correct manner.
Always ensure that workstation is neat and tidy; and planners are up to date and accurate where applicable.
Attending any Company briefings as requested.

Carry out instructions with respect to inspection, repair, service and maintenance of all Plant machinery and equipment for hire and resale by the Company.
Ensuring that all machines are serviced and ready for use in a clean and safe working order
In the field Service Engineers are required to attend sites to carry out servicing and repairs of the Company’s Plant hire equipment; including delivery of machine attachments to sites.
Ensure site safety/regulations are adhered to with regard to site briefings, inductions, signing in etc.
In the workshop Service Engineers are required to carry out servicing and repairs of the Company’s Plant hire equipment within the Depot.
Maintain a good relationship with internal and external Customers.
Maintain a thorough machine history record in line with Company policies and procedures, using the appropriate computer or paper based system.
Promote outside parts repair and service work.
Maintaining accurate and up to date service and maintenance records for auditing, using the appropriate computer or paper based system.
Liaising with Procurement for parts ordering, consignment stock and servicing kits, allocating costs to machine fleet numbers.
Maintain good working practices and be prepared to share knowledge and explain technical information clearly to non-technical audiences.
Maintain the Workshop in a clean and safe manner, ensuring any equipment used is safely returned to its natural rest area.
On call duties – you will be required to be on call to assist in maintenance work when necessary.
Ensure the Company Vehicle, if applicable, is maintained in a clean, safe and well presented manner.
Must adhere to all Health and Safety Standards and Regulations, PPE requirements at all times and make certain familiar with these.


A good standard of general education; must have excellent grades in English and Math’s at GSCE Level.
At least 3 years Rail Industry experience previous experience in heavy Plant machinery.
Indentured Apprentice or NVQ Level 2 in Mobile Plant Engineering or equivalent.
Computer literate for Email, Word, Excel, Database and systems related packages.
Awareness of Health and Safety issues and responsibilities.
Must hold a valid PTS card endorsed with AC and/or DC lines (DCCR).
Hold a valid Sentinel Smart card.
Emergency First Aid preferable.
Manual Handling.
Working at Height.


Sound mechanical knowledge of heavy Plant machinery, including excavators, bull dozers, dump trucks etc; RRV preferred.
Excellent Computer literacy skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access. ? Clean driving License where applicable.
If driving to adhere to Highway rules and Company policy.
Be prepared to travel to Client sites and stay away from home as business needs dictate.
Ability to demonstrate strong personal integrity is essential.
Be prepared to support problem solving when requested.
Excellent Customer Service essential. ?
Follow instructions correctly and methodically.
Promote Continuous Improvement and become involved in new ideas as requested.
Excellent standard of personal hygiene essential.
Act as an Ambassador for the Company; be polite and courteous at all times during work activities.
