Due to relocation, a vacancy has arisen within the finance team at one of our clients in Portswood, Southampton for an Accounts Assistant.

The role is a full-time position, working 8-5 Monday-Friday assisting in the day to day operations of the business. You should have good communication skills to be able to talk to our varied customer base and have a working knowledge of Sage Accounts.

In addition, skills in planning and admin are a must. We will, of course, provide any training required to complete the role. Please note, Industry experience is not necessary.

Key Responsibilities: Sales/Purchase ledgers up to date & posted Cash Book up to date posted & reconciled
Monthly Cheque runs/posting of cheques as & when required
Quarterly VAT returns,
Checked & posted Debt collecting & posting all debtors payments
Payroll on a monthly basis
Raising payments for Inland Revenue on a monthly basis
Monthly journals End of year accounts preparation
Liaise with company accountant
Covering & fielding incoming calls Petty Cash analysis & posting

Core Competencies: Knowledge of Sage line 50 Accounts Plus Computer literate experience in Excel, Word & MS Office Accuracy a priority Good clear hand writing Good face to face & telephone manner/communicator Able to work to deadlines under pressure Ability to work on your own or as a team player Attention to detail
