Infrastructure Team Lead - Global Role - London/City - £75K - £85K + Package

An excellent opportunity has arisen with a global market leading financial (1,500 users worldwide) for an experienced Infrastructure Team Lead to work on the continued development of the global infrastructure environment. This is both strategic and a hands on position and requires strong Server, Exchange, AD and Virtualisation skills.

Role of the Infrastructure Team Lead

  • Assist the managers & director in setting the direction for the groups IT advancement and co-ordinating and reporting of these activities.

  • Assist in the creation / maintenance of systems standards (both documentation and implementation throughout the group ).

  • Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.

  • Recognise and identify potential areas where existing policies and procedures require changes, or where new ones need to be developed, especially regarding future business expansion. This would include identifying single points of failure both human and technological.

  • Liaise with third party vendors in ensuring that current hardware / software is supported. Coordinate and communicate with impacted users / support team with regular updates.

  • Work closely with other divisions of the IT group.

  • Respond within agreed time limits to out of hours support (response within 30 minutes of a phone call, flexible with email requests).

  • Prioritise and manage ongoing projects

  • Any issues / concerns to be reported to line manager.

  • Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks.

  • Maintain hardware / software environment and monitoring equipment.

  • Assist in the recruitment / training process in the systems team. Outline training goals with systems manager on an annual basis, so funding can be made available to ensure this is met.

  • Act as second point of contact should the systems manager be unavailable, and liaise with other members of systems team / IT support accordingly.

  • Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / add new services as necessary.

  • Maintain operational, configuration, or other procedures.

  • Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning.

  • Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required.

  • Maintain data center environmental and monitoring equipment.

Experience of the Infrastructure Team Lead

  • Strong leadership skills within a global technical environment

  • Strong technical background covering MS Server, Exchange, Active Directory, Citrix Xenapp,

    VDI, Storage, Data Centre Security.

  • Strong work ethic is a must
