My Client is an engineering company, they are group suppliers of high precision components worldwide to OEM’s and second tier suppliers, offering services for Brass and Copper based turned parts and screw machine components.
Renowned for high quality and impeccable service, they work closely with customers which are considered more as partners. For this reason they have worked with some customers for over 25 years! Located across two manufacturing sites, the company is financially strong and pride themselves on the quality of service and product delivered and believe that this is the key to their success.

• A new position within a growing group of SMEs’, closely assisting and reporting to the Group Financial Controller (“GFC”).
• Based in Birmingham, but accompanying the GFC around the Group.
• Taking over certain day-to-day Group responsibilities from the GFC, assisting the GFC day-to-day and with new projects, and providing absenteeism cover around the Group.
• The right candidate will have a strong grounding in accounting but is not expected to be experienced in everything described below. Our focus is on finding the right individual and investing in their training and development through close contact with the GFC.
• Assisting with Group insurance renewals.
• Assisting in preparation of subsidiary budgets, management accounts and accounting analysis and queries from subsidiary management.
• Maintaining Holding Company books and records / management accounts.
• Assisting with internal audit visits, checking subsidiary management accounting information (e.g. investigating a large rise in expenditure), performing ad-hoc financial analysis (e.g. effect of sales mix on margins), periodic stocktaking.
• Authorising new online banking accounts and acting as an additional signatory across the Group.
• Preparing P11d’s.
• Group pension scheme administration; new members, checking and submitting contributions.
• Assisting with year-end preparation of internal audit files and helping with external audit queries.
• Day-to-day Group treasury; sweeping Group accounts and investigating unusual cashflow requirements.
• Monitoring Group sales ledgers to prevent bad debts.
• Assisting with Group record retention policy; archiving and destroying records.

• Likely to be a graduate (maths and science) though not essential, part qualified within industry.
• Most likely on ACCA/CIMA path. First time passes.
• The right candidate will want to commit to a long-term future with a growing Group of SME’s, on a career path to ultimately succeed the present GFC.
• Committed, trustworthy, accurate, conscientious, adaptable, careful and methodical, personable and an ability to learn.
• Strong grounding in accounts (double entry, bookkeeping principles, VAT principles etc), strong numeracy and spreadsheet skills (pivot tables, sumif, vlookup), computer literate, and preferably some experience with accounts and payroll software.
