Business: This company's operations have a market-leading presence in a wide range of sectors associated with the food chain. The Group's companies manufacture quality products for use in human and animal foodstuffs, agriculture, aquaculture, and industrial applications. The company has a UK annual turnover approaching £250 million and employs around 1,000 people at 23 sites across the country.

The Position:

Applications are invited for a Day Fitter at their Widnes site. This is a full time permanent position, working 40 hours per week. The post holder will assist with the operation and maintenance of all processes and equipment within the Rendering division.

- Assist in meeting all environmental legislative requirements (particularly process emissions).
- Ensure that all shift log sheets, maintenance sheets and other documents are completed and signed by the relevant staff.
- Assist in meeting process target tonnage, daily and weekly.
- Operate efficiently and safely at all times.
- Attend team meetings when required.
- Be personally responsible for health and safety of personnel under your control within the workplace, and comply with all health and safety procedures.
- Completing permits to work.
- Be involved in PPM systems upkeep & upgrade.
- Experienced in steam raising & boiler house routine checks
- Understand the stores procedure to enable holiday cover.
- Be willing to be flexible and provide shift cover or extra engineering labour when required (often at weekends).
- To undertake general housekeeping of the Engineering Workshop.

Requirements

- To hold a full Engineering Apprenticeship with practical electrical experience.
- Previous experience working within on a shop floor/factory environment.
- To be able to work on own initiative and take ownership of projects within an agreed timescale.
- Take a pro active approach to problem solving and produce appropriate solutions to minimize disruption to working processes.
- Have a calm and methodical approach to work and be able to work under pressure within time constraints.
- Manage a number of projects effectively and troubleshoot as and when required.
- Must be a team worker, and help the team to be developed and maintained.
