Location: Ruislip, North London
Hours:
Flexible Part-time hours are available; including 4-6 hours on Saturdays, plus one evening after school. Additional hours may be available.

Overview:
To work with a 17 year old young man with mild learning difficulties in his own home and the local community. The main focus of this job is to assist and support our client to enable him to maximise his independence, explore new areas of interest and develop a good quality of life. The work will be varied and will involve participating in a range of activities with the client both at home and out in the community. The support worker is expected to work cooperatively with the client's family and the Case Manager to offer him the best opportunity to fulfil his potential.

Support Worker/Buddy Role Overview:
The role involves supporting our client to participate in leisure activities such as football, swimming and going to the cinema. You will further support him in developing his independence in accessing the community with day to day activities e.g. shopping and using public transport.

Experience of working with young people with special needs is preferable, but a fun outlook, a good sense of humour, patience and reliability are the qualities most desired.

- Confident about and comfortable with working in client's own home and sensitive to the needs and wishes of our client and his family
- Able to demonstrate an understanding of confidentiality and privacy
- Willing to participate in a variety of sporting and outdoor activities
- Ability to work under own initiative
- Patient and tolerant.
- Reliable & trustworthy.
- Happy to learn new things e.g. therapy programmes, communication techniques etc. Training will be given.
- Able to work flexible hours and sometimes at short notice.

Remuneration:
Weekday pay rate £12.00 per hour, Weekend pay rate £12.50 per hour.
Ongoing training and support provided. Free DBS check.
