£40,898 - £44,676 per annum

37.5 hours per week

Fircroft is a residential college occupying a former Cadbury family home, set in six acres of beautiful grounds in Selly Oak, Birmingham. We were originally founded to provide educational opportunities for some of the most disadvantaged and excluded members of society.

One hundred years on from the birth of Fircroft College, its mission of 'social justice' is more relevant than ever. Fircroft is a thriving College with a vast and diverse community of learners.

Over the coming year we are establishing an exciting phase of improvement and development. We are seeking to appoint a Head of Business Development to work closely with our Senior Leadership Team on a cross-college Business Development strategy based on effective market research, relationship management and sustainable growth.

This role will be responsible for developing and implementing a Business Development strategy which enables the college to achieve its strategic objectives and operational targets. You would need to clearly identify the college's key markets, continually researching their needs and requirements and also build and manage relationships with strategic partners (statutory agencies, voluntary and community groups, employers, funders and commissioners, referral organisations and other providers).

Another key area of the role is to scan the region for trends and opportunities to develop new business and write and submit funding applications, tenders and proposals to achieve income generation targets from a variety of funding sources. The role manages a small internal team and would need to project manage and resource the implementation of any successful bids.

To be considered for this role you must have experience of - leading on development and implementation of Business Development strategy; successful generation of new business from a range of funding sources with a significant contribution to the bottom line; experience of line, team and complex project management; relevant degree or professional qualification and a high level Finance and English skills to write convincing proposals.

The right person will be someone who enjoys working at a fast pace with a variety of different tasks, who is self-managed with a strong work ethic, who has a positive outlook and a 'can do' attitude and is a completer / finisher.
